Jeep History – Over Fifty Years Of Adventure

Who does not recognize the name of Jeep? It is an iconic name that has been associated not only with adventurous rides but for the sheer joy of riding one of the world’s best. This is a brand that is known by many names, like the Wrangler, the Rubicon, the Cherokee, the Wagoneer and many more.

Going back in history, Jeep has been through wars and many battles. It was a four-by-four utility vehicles favored by the armed forces in World War II and it was such a huge success that after the war left the Philippines, whatever left over vehicles were soon converted into public utility vehicles that gave birth to the all-Filipino “jeepney.”

Fast forward to the fifties, the Jeep Jambories was launched into the market, thanks to a group of people who wanted to show the rest of the world what a fantastic vehicle it was, even outside of war torn areas. The Caterham 7 Sports Car – Super Light and Super Fun

When the visionary designer Colin Chapmen first set out to design the Lotus 7 he had lightness, speed and agility at the forefront of his mind. What he could not of known was that he was about to create a timeless design classic, which still has the ability to embarrass supercars costing over ten times as much.

The first Lotus 7 was released to the public in 1957 and cost £1000 pounds to buy new. However the simplicity of the design meant that Lotus could also offer the 7 in kit form where it would cost half as much. Chapman’s constant aim throughout all of his cars at Lotus was to lightness, ensuring that the cars he produced had supreme agility and road holding. Read the rest of this entry »
